Mr. Weprin founded AJ Capital Partners in the fourth quarter of 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with an M.B.A. from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Alfaro brings more than 14 years of institutional real estate experience to AJ Capital Partners. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Alfaro was a Managing Director in the Asset Management group for Greenfield Partners. During his tenure at Greenfield, Mr. Alfaro oversaw the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of over $2B in gross assets that included investments in boutique and select service hotel investments, assisted living communities, office, mixed-used projects and single tenant office/industrial acquisitions. Previous to Greenfield, Mr. Alfaro worked with Heitman Capital Management in the Acquisitions group. Mr. Alfaro holds a B.A. in Economics and Public Policy from Stanford University.
As Chief Creative Officer, Mr. Alford brings more than fifteen years of design and creative direction experience to the table. Mr. Alford began his hospitality design career as the Style Manager for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. After his tenure with Kimpton, he launched his own firm, Dirty Lines Design. Projects ranged from luxury resorts to eccentric neighborhood hotels to dive bars on the Pacific Coast Highway. Most notably, Mr. Alford designed Hotel Lincoln and the J. Parker roof bar in Chicago, IL.
Ms. Hoffmann is an Accountant with over 20 years of career experience in the real estate industry. As part of the accounting team, she is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for our asset management group. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, MS. Hoffmann gained her accounting experience at CBRE and The Prime Group, Inc. Ms. Hoffmann received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
With a background in domestic and international hospitality investments, Mr. Gottlieb is responsible for sourcing and executing investment opportunities. Formerly based in Tokyo with Morgan Stanley Real Estate's hospitality arm, Mr. Gottlieb covered emerging market hotel development, management agreement negotiation, asset management and analytics for the group's investments in the Asia Pacific region. His experience also includes a position with DivcoWest's acquisitions team. Mr. Gottlieb holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A from Cornell University's Johnson School.
After graduating from McGill university in her native Montreal, Ms. Vo-Dai was employed as Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Cirque du Soleil, where she oversaw press relations, communication, and marketing strategies for shows in Asia, Europe and South America. Seven years and 72 cities later, Ms. Vo-Dai joined Penrod Management Group as the Global Marketing Director for the Nikki Beach Hotel and Restaurant Group, where she envisioned and applied the overall marketing strategy for all twelve hotel and beach club locations as well as created strategic partnership alliances with luxury brands. During her career, Ms. Vo-Dai curated over 50 international multi-million dollar events, including the creation and launch of the Canadian Pavilion at Shanghai Universal Expo, Cirque du Soleil's international premieres in Las Vegas and Nikki Beach Cannes Festival where she managed all project aspects from start to finish including finding a location, design, raising funds, creating programming and generating revenue. Ms. Vo-Dai's unique experience working on all five continents is key to the distinct and culturally inspired vision she brings to the hospitality industry.
Mr. Schor oversees asset management for AJ Capital's portfolio of properties as well as evaluates investment opportunities. Previously as a Vice President in Hyatt Hotel's Real Estate & Development group, Mr. Schor gained valuable experience handling both management agreement and ownership matters on a global basis. Mr. Schor graduated from Cornell University and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Mr. Rochefort spent three years working in the asset management group at Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. As the first analyst hired by Pebblebrook following their IPO, he worked on over $2.0B in hospitality assets totaling 6,417 keys across multiple operator and brand platforms. Mr. Rochefort will focus on identifying and evaluating new acquisition and development opportunities, while also assisting with asset management functions. Mr. Rochefort graduated with a minor in real estate finance from the Cornell Hotel School.
Mr. Wlostowski is a member of the design team for Graduate Hotels. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, he was the Resource Coordinator at DePalma Group in Chicago. Mr. Wlostowski graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a B.F.A. in Painting and Print Media.
Gwen Lemos is the Brand Visual Manager for Graduate Hotels. She collaborates on brand standard guides for each property and trains hotel staff to meet and maintain those standards. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Ms. Lemos worked as a photo stylist in Chicago for clients such as Crate & Barrel, CB2 and Nike. She has also worked in commercials and television as a costume designer. She graduated from Loyola University - Chicago with a B.A. in Art History.
Mr. Broaden is responsible for acquisitions and development with a focus on originating, financing, and executing new investments. Formerly, as an Investment Manager with Dubai Holding, Mr. Broaden helped lead the acquisition and development of luxury resort and mixed-use assets. His real estate and private equity background includes positions with Equity International, RV Kuhns, and Jones Lang LaSalle. Mr. Broaden is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Ms. Ke is an asset manager within AJ Capital Partners focused on Graduate Hotels. She is primarily responsible for assisting the asset management team in the underwriting, market analysis and strategic oversight of existing investments. Prior to joining the firm, she spent four years at Host Hotels & Resorts, where she helped close $1.4 billion in strategic dispositions. Previous to Host, she was involved in equity raising, asset financing and asset management functions at Thayer Lodging Group. Ms. Ke is a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School with a minor in Real Estate.
As Brand Manager of Graduate Hotels, Ms. Rassieur curates brand standards for the boutique hotel collection managing the design and production of all branded materials, public relations, website development and social media. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Ms. Rassieur was the Marketing Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue overseeing events, social media and public relations. She also previously worked in Advertising for Conde Nast. Ms. Rassieur holds a B.A. in Strategic Communications and Minor in Marketing from Miami University - Oxford, Ohio.
Mr. MacDonald is a member of the asset management team for the Graduate Hotels division. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, he worked in numerous hotel management positions over the period of five years. His extensive experience with hotel management groups lends itself directly to his current role as an asset management analyst. Mr. MacDonald is responsible for the daily operations of the Graduate assets while working in direct support of the other members of the asset management team. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Stephens currently serves as AJ Capital Partners' Portfolio Controller. His responsibilities include investor level accounting and reporting, oversight of property level accounting and reporting and assisting asset management with investment related issues. Prior to joining AJCP, he was a manager in PwC's financial services assurance group serving various real estate entities, broker dealers, commodity traders and investment companies. Prior to joining PwC, he started his career in McGladrey's real estate assurance group. Mr. Stephens holds a B.S. and MAS in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois.
Ms. Denson is the office manager and assistant to the Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Graduate Hotels. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Ms. Denson worked in the food and beverage industry and non-profit sector at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and DA! Theatre Collective in Austin, TX. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from St. Edward’s University in Austin.
Mr. Franzen is a commercial real estate investment and development professional possessing broad experience across multiple asset classes, including retail, restaurants, office, parking and mixed-use, with particular expertise in hospitality real estate. Mr. Franzen puts his over 18 years of experience to work for AJ Capital Partners as its Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Developments. Over Mr. Franzen's career he has acquired more than 18 hotels containing over 4,500 guest rooms, (both branded and independent) having a total value in excess of $600 million, while developing over 1,000 hotel guest rooms with an aggregate capitalization of over $300 million. Mr. Franzen has also participated in the founding and management of both hotel management and hotel asset management companies, and has owned and operated hotels in all of the major brand families. Mr. Franzen is a graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and holds a J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law.
Mr. Lopez is a Staff Accountant for the newly formed hotel division at AJ Capital Partners. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Mr. Lopez gained eight years of real estate experience as a Property Accountant at First Hospitality Group. As a Property Accountant, Mr. Lopez was responsible for the accounting, asset management and financial reporting of eight full function hotels. Mr. Lopez received his Bachelors in Science of Business Administration from Robert Morris University in Chicago.
As Senior Vice President of Asset Management, Ms. Quan oversees all aspects of asset management for Graduate Hotels. With over 15 years of industry experience, she joins the firm following tenures with Chartres Lodging Group, Morgan Stanley Real Estate (including predecessor company, Lend Lease Real Estate Investments), and Carlson Hospitality where she served various roles overseeing nearly $2 billion in gross assets within asset management, acquisitions, dispositions, advisory, receivership and profit optimization. Ms. Quan is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and holds a Master of Management from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.
Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners as General Counsel, Mr. Weprin served in a similar capacity with the New York City real estate development firm, Youngwoo & Associates. Mr. Weprin previously served as an associate at the international law firms Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, and Dechert LLP. Mr. Weprin is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, holds an M.S. in Real Estate Finance from New York University, and is a summa cum laude graduate of New York Law School.
Ms. Robson is a member of the design team for Graduate Hotels. She interned with award-winning hospitality design firms sfadesign, The Gettys Group, and Looney & Associates. Before joining AJ Capital Partners, she was an Interior Designer at tvsdesign in Chicago. Ms. Robson graduated cum laude from Iowa State University with a B.F.A in Interior Design and minor in Spanish, and is certified as a LEED Green Associate.
Mr. Nichols is responsible for the development and construction management of active improvements within AJ Capital’s portfolio as well as lead-in cost forecasting and feasibility planning for potential new opportunities. In previous roles with Jones Lang LaSalle and Lend Lease, Mr. Nichols successfully oversaw the ground-up construction and redevelopment of a wide range of assets including full-service hospitality, high-rise commercial office, retail, and mixed-use new communities. Mr. Nichols is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and holds an M.B.A. from DePaul University’s Kellstadt School of Business.
Ms. Boan is responsible for supporting the executive management team and office operations of AJ Capital Partners. She brings over ten years of hospitality and food and beverage experience in both management and service to the firm. Ms. Boan holds an A. A. from Trident Technical College and is currently earning her degree in Leadership and Organizational Behavior at Northwestern University.
Mr. Slomiany is responsible for the feasibility, development, and construction of Graduate Hotels. His past experience at Greenfield Partners and the Public Building Commission of Chicago includes the project management for several boutique and limited service hotels, public schools, commercial buildings, and residential projects. Mr. Slomiany is a licensed architect in the State of Illinois and was the project architect for several commercial, retail, and residential projects and holds a Bachelor Degree of Architectural Studies and Masters Degree of Architecture from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Zalinski is responsible for the accounting and reporting for Graduate Hotels. Mr. Zalinski’s career experience includes working with Hyatt Hotels in both operation and accounting as well as working in accounting for other hotel and restaurant companies. Most recently, Mr. Zalinski worked as an accounting and financial consultant providing a variety of services for the hospitality industry including interim controllership, property openings, closings, and assisting with management changes, asset management support, and internal auditing. Mr. Zalinski received his Bachelors of Science degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
Mr. Atilano is a Staff Accountant for Graduate Hotels. Mr. Atilano’s extensive career experience includes seven years of real estate experience as a Property Accountant at First Hospitality Group. In his most recent role as Property Accountant, Mr. Atilano was responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of various hotels. Mr. Atilano received his Bachelors in Science of Business Administration from Robert Morris University in Chicago.
An experienced accounting professional with excellent financial, analytical, technological and organizational skills, acquired and developed through 32 years of leadership experience in the hospitality and real estate industries, Ms. Shore is responsible for accounting and financial reporting for our asset management team. She is experienced and knowledgeable in a full complement of business management practices, methods and techniques obtained and developed while serving a variety of roles at Hilton Hotels Worldwide, Hyatt Hotel Corporation, Strategic Hotels and Resorts, and Shore Controller Services. Ms. Shore received her BS in Psychology and Biology from The College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Mr. Geraci is responsible for construction projects from initial budget through project closeout, including overall safety, direction, completion and financial outcome. In previous roles with Walsh Construction and W.E. O’Neil, Mr. Geraci successfully managed over $200 million of ground-up construction. Mr. Geraci is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners as Vice President of Marketing and Communications of Graduate Hotels, Ms. Saunders served as Director of Marketing at Saks Fifth Avenue. She oversaw marketing strategy, public relations and communications. Prior to Saks, Ms. Saunders was responsible for all marketing initiatives for Modern Luxury Media's five Chicago publications. In addition, Ms. Saunders managed strategic marketing and business development for Sotheby's auction house. Ms. Saunders is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and holds a M.A. in Art History from Christie's New York.
Ms. Biddle is the office manager and assistant to the COO of AJ Capital Partners. Prior to her current role, Ms. Biddle managed an upscale retail store and contributed to high volume sales on Chicago's Michigan Avenue. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Sales and Marketing.
Ms. Jones is a senior member of the design team for Graduate Hotels. Before joining AJ Capital Partners, she was a senior interior designer at Martha Angus Inc. in San Francisco where she managed residential design projects from inception to installation. Ms. Jones holds a double B.A. in Fine Art and American Studies from Illinois Wesleyan University and an M.F.A. in Interior Architecture and Design from The Academy of Art.
Mr. Housner brings his diverse real estate experience, spanning all major asset classes, to AJ Capital Partners in a dual role focused on acquisitions and asset management. Prior to joining the firm, he was responsible for identifying, structuring and closing new debt and equity investments at Canyon Capital Realty Advisors. He began his career with Lehman Brother’s Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities group and later joined Lehman Brother’s Holdings Inc. to manage and restructure a $2 billion portfolio of assets. Mr. Housner is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double-major in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics and Finance, Investment & Banking.
Mr. Trombley's role covers acquisitions, asset management and investor reporting for the Graduate Hotels platform. Prior to joining AJ Capital Partners, Mr. Trombley previously held positions at Jones Lang LaSalle and PwC. Mr. Trombley graduated from the University of Michigan with a dual B.B.A./B.A. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Real Estate Broker in Illinois.
Mr. Sehgal serves as Managing Director based out of AJ Capital Partners' Nashville office. He previously was Chief Investment Officer of Campus Coliving, a venture-backed serviced residential brand, and Principal of Vine Street Partners, a lifestyle hospitality investment advisor. Prior to those engagements, Mr. Sehgal held the post of Director of Acquisitions for Viceroy Hotel Group. His responsibilities included managing new deals and existing assets in the US, Middle East, and Asia. Mr. Sehgal sourced and led the sale of Viceroy to an Abu Dhabi-based sovereign fund and a private Malaysian investor. Mr. Sehgal received a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University.
Mr. Pesotskiy is responsible for evaluation, structuring, and due diligence of acquisition opportunities as well as asset management of portfolio assets. His previous experiences include valuation consulting with Plante Moran and auditing with the Chicago Department of Finance. Mr. Pesotskiy graduated Loyola University with a B.B.A in accounting, finance, and minor in economics and is a Certified Public Accountant.
