The Scottish seaside town of St Andrews is the birthplace of golf, and today regularly hosts the British Open on its famous Old Course, and bustles throughout the year with golfing pilgrims from every corner of the globe.
Last year, the historic, clifftop town on Fife’s east coast, hosted the 150th edition of the Open, which saw record spectator numbers. Off the course, St. Andrews buzzes with tourists visiting the Fife area as well as university students.
St Andrews is not short of impressive luxury overnight stays, either. It has a 520-acre hotel by Fairmont with five-star wellness and spa and two-AA-rosette dining; the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa; the boutique Rusacks St Andrews, which has been remodeled with a golfing theme; and The Peat Inn.
