Nashville’s historic Merritt Mansion will be home to a contemporary fine art gallery this spring and summer, free to the public.
Wedgewood Houston’s Cëcret by cë gallery, by Nashville-native curator Clarence Edward, will be the first activation of the mansion under Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners' ownership.
Nashville-based developer AJ Capital owns the six-acre site surrounding Merritt Mansion that will one day be home to a mixed-use project. The firm purchased 5.7 acres of the parcel in 2021 for $30.9 million.
“Our goal has always been to celebrate community and amplify the arts and important voices of Nashville in the Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, which makes Clarence a natural partner,” Ruben Navarro, chief strategy officer at AJ Capital, said to the Business Journal. “Clarence curates exhibitions and experiences much the same way AJ Capital approaches our projects, focusing on creating a welcoming and energizing environment for everyone. It is important to us to bring that personality to Merritt Mansion.”
